With support from the Massage Therapy Foundation, The Department of Family Medicine in 2006 employed BMC’s first licensed massage therapist, Sha Hannah, LMT. In collaboration with the BMC Department of Hematology and Oncology, Ms. Hannah provides free therapeutic massage therapy to cancer patients while they receive chemotherapy in BMC’s new Moakley Building. Our outcomes for massage in cancer show that pain, fatigue, anxiety and depression often decrease up to 50%....
